IMPORTANT MILESTONE FOR FORD'S AMBITIOUS SUSTAINABILITY GOALS

A new solar power plant in Valencia marks another step towards our goal of being carbon neutral throughout the European chain of facilities, logistics and suppliers by 2035.

The solar array at Ford Almussafe's manufacturing facility will initially produce up to 2 percent of the facility's annual electricity consumption, with the goal of expanding the facility to reach 10 percent in the future.

CARBON DIOXIDE NEUTRAL 2035

We look to the future with a new solar power plant at the Almussafes facilities in Valencia, Spain. By 2035, all vehicle sales in Europe will be fully electric, and we are aiming for carbon neutrality across our European footprint of facilities and suppliers. This latest initiative, which was operational by the end of 2022, highlights our ongoing effort to fulfill this commitment.

MORE SOLAR PANELS IN THE FUTURE

The solar area is located in a non-productive area of the facility covering two zones of solar panels, which can produce the equivalent energy each year to power 1,400 average homes. In practice, this means that the factory in Valencia will generate enough solar energy to cover 2 percent of its annual needs.

Ford wants to expand the areas of solar panels on additional non-productive land to be able to cover 10 percent in the near future. The possibility of potential future solar panel installations on the roofs of the factories is also being investigated.
